What is the folding boxboard used for?
This is a low-density material with high stiffness and has a slightly yellow color, mainly on the inside. The major end uses of folding boxboards are health and beauty products, frozen, chilled, and other foods, confectionaries, pharmaceuticals, graphical uses, and cigarettes.
How are the folding cartons made?
The process involves folding carton made of paperboard that is printed, laminated, cut, then folded and glued. The cartons are shipped flat to a packager, which has its own machinery to fold the carton into its final shape as a container for a product. An example of such a carton is a cereal box.
Why is the carton board used for packaging?
Cartons are also made from micro flute corrugated board. It is used to provide additional protection for fragile products such as glass, porcelain, and sensitive electronic and electrical goods, whilst at the same time providing a high standard of print and varnish appearance.
What is the difference between paperboard and cardboard?
Paperboard items have one layer, while corrugated cardboard items have three layers – two flat pieces sandwiched around a middle wavy layer.
